Flower Carpet in Rabin Square
Flower Carpet in Rabin Square
9/16/2009 One hundred volunteers complete the creation of a carpet made of 500,000 flowers

As the Jewish High Holidays approach, Rabin Square is decorated with a unique carpet, composed of 500,000 flowers. The carpet's design is a homage to the history of Tel Aviv, and was inspired by tiles and murals found in the homes of several of the city's founders.

The flower carpet is a special tribute of the city of Brussels for the Tel Aviv-Yafo Centennial Year, and was inaugurated in the presence of the Ambassador of Belgium in Israel HE Ms. Bénédicte Frankinet and the Mayor of Brussles, Mr. Freddy Thielemans. The flowers were laid by a special team from Brussels, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Department of City Beautification, and one hundred volunteers. It will be removed on Thursday, September 17th at midnight.
The flower carpet is one of dozens of events that are part of the Month of Art of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Centennial Year. For a full list of events, click here.
